Kathmandu temple tour takes you only to the temples believed to be of the highest regards in the city. Kathmandu being the heart of Nepalese civilization has inherited several temples, some dating back to hundreds or years. These temples in the modern day are part of UNESCO world heritage sites and as well as an integral part of this pilgrimage tour. Some of these temples are regarded as one of the highly regarded pilgrimage sites as per the holy scriptures of Hinduism.

 

Kathmandu temple tour is inclusive of temples dedicated to gods Shiva, Narayan, Sunny dev and different forms of Durga bhawani. From morning to evening, you will engage in chanting bhajans, cleanse in the holi rivers, offer prayers to deities and conduct rituals and aratis. The tour brings you closer to the cultural practices in Nepalese and makes you realize of how importance gods and goddess are to Nepalese people. In fact, you will see rituals from womb to the tomb being conducted right in the complex of the temple.

Day 1
Dakshinkali - Budhanilkantha - Pashupatinath Arati

Activities: temple visit

You would begin your day by starting early and driving towards the holy temple of Dakshinkali; dedicated to goddess Kali mata. The temple is located 22 kilometers south of Kathmandu valley towards the town of Pharping. After making your offerings to the most bloodthirsty avatar of Parvati and a consort of Lord shiva, you will head back to Kathmandu. Visiting to and from this temple takes almost 3-4 hours. After returning back, we will break for breakfast or lunch and then move ahead towards Budhanilkantha; the reclining Vishnu on the refuge of Sheshnag. Finishing this temple, you will move ahead with the krishna temple constructed by ISKCON. From here, you will return back to your hotel and take the much required break. Around 5:30 in the evening you will get ready and board your vehicle to witness the most beautiful arati on the banks of Bagmati river and in the complex of Pashupatinath temple. You will finally call it a day after returning from the Arati proceedings.

Day 2
Doleshwor Mahadev - Changu Narayan - Sangha Mahadev

We would begin by visiting Changu Narayan; a historically important vishnu temple located in Bhaktapur. The temple is located around 22 kilometers from Kathmandu city. From here, you will hop on our vehicles to visit the nearby Doleshwor Mahadev; the temple dedicated to lord Shiva. This is the biggest Shiva shrines in Kathmandu valley after Pashupatinath. This temple lies 20 kilometer east of Kathmandu city and only 12 kilometers from the temple of Changu. Doleshwar is believed to be dedicated to Lord shiva and is famous as the head section of Kedarnath in India. Finally after completing our puja and offerings at this temple, we move ahead to Sangha Mahadev; the tallest shiva statue in the world. The temple is around 13 kilometers from Doleshwar Mahadev and on the Arniko highway. We take our time to worship the lord and after completing, you will return back at your hotel and rest for the day.

Day 3
Patan Krishna Mandir - Kumbeshwar Mahadev - Bagalamukhi

This is the day of exploring historical city of Patan and its temples left behind by the 15th century rulers. First, you will start your day by visiting the architecturally rich temple dedicated to the Kaliyuga god Krishna. Post offering puja to the Kanhaiya, you will move forward on the brick paved alleys to the temple sites of Kumbeshwar Mahadev and Baglamukhi. Both of these temples lie in the same complex. It is believed that one offering the deities with ‘Lakh batti’ 1 lakh ghee soaked wick, your wish will be granted and your sorrows will be swayed. Furthermore, the water flowing out of the fountains in Kumbeshwar is believed not to be an ordinary water but the holy water that flows 41 kilometer from Gosainkunda lake. The lake as per the scriptures was created by the trident of Lord Shiva. Completing our temple journey, we will retrace our way back to the hotel and call it a day.

Day 4
Pashupatinath - Sankata - Kaal Bhairav - Mahankal

This will be your second visit to Pashupatinath; the guardian god of Nepal and the most famous Shiva temple in the country. It will take you almost couple of hours to completely exploring and paying homage to the gods and goddess in the complex. Meanwhile, you can as well stop and shop for Rudraksha and other souvenir for your friends and family back home. After completing your rituals here, you will move forward to the temple of Shankata. The temple is dedicated to an avatar of goddess Durga who is worshipped to end bad luck and sickness of any kind. Moving ahead, you will then proceed to the temple of Mahangkal. The temple is dedicated to Bhairav and is believed to be the healer of illness and diseases as a result of their Karma. Finally after finishing paying homage to our last deity, your Kathmandu Temple tour comes to an end.
