Kathmandu valley comprises of 3 ancient and constituent cities namely Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. These cities were built in the medieval period of Nepal which dates back to 15th century. The three cities were ruled by the kings of Malla dynasty and the same has left us with cities full of national heritages.
All the durbar squares in Basantapur, Patan and Bhaktapur are now UNESCO world heritage sites but once were the playground of prehistoric rulers. Out of all the three historical city, Bhaktapur still preserves the best of Malla dynasty, Patan displays the authentic Malla dynasty and Basantapur is where the Malla dynasty architecture meets Queen Elizabeth craftsmanship.
All these three world heritage site is surrounded by the descendants of the then newari community who still preserve the age old customs and carry out prehistoric rituals on everyday basis. The roads built out of bricks, the pagoda style houses and the alleys connecting different historical sites. There are several other archaics that is preserved till the day that is certain to take you back to the history.
