This is a fantastic 100 kilometer mountain biking trip around kathmandu valley that climbs up to the highest hill of Phulchowki and the beautiful newari communities of Chapagaun. The trip can last anywhere from 10 hours to 15 hours depending upon your experience and expertise.
Not following the usual route to the foot of Phulchowki we head out to Chapagaun. From the historical city that reflect rich newari culture even till the modern day we ride forward to Bhagwan Danda, then to Lele, then to Chaughare Bhanjyang and finally to foot of Phulchowki. The trail until here is very simple, not demanding and very pleasant. In fact it works like a launching pad before the real ride begins.
From here we walk on beautiful landscape surrounded by surreal rhododendron and pine trees. This probably is the most difficult section of the entire trip and we keep ascending until we finally reach Batase Danda. At the top waits majestic views of Ganesh himal and Langtang range on a clear day and below lies the view of bustling Kathmandu city. From here it is a downhill ride at times technical, all the way down to Panauti, Banepa.
Most of the trail and in fact 80% -85% of the trail is very serene and with tea shops in hefty amount. Once in awhile we get on jeep track which isn't crowded as well. This is a fantastic cycling route around kathmandu with all goodness!
